Senior Noah Mirelez went 2-2 at the 2019 CIF State Wrestling Championship in his third straight qualification.

Back-to-back victories to begin the 2019 CIF State Wrestling Championships was a promising start for senior Noah Mirelez, but two straight losses to follow meant a 2-2 finish for Mirelez in his final season wrestling for the Tigers.

Mirelez dispatched Steven Kroessen (Laguna Hills) by pin fall in the third round, to get started on the right foot.

He then followed that up with yet another victory over Isaac Kephart (Arroyo Grande) with a pin in the second round, to remain in the winner’s bracket.

Mirelez’ promising beginning to the tournament was dampened when he lost a very close match to Logan Gioffre (Buchanon). Only three points were scored in total, but Gioffre just edged past Mirelez with a 2-1 decision victory, to knock Mirelez out of the championship bracket in the 132-pound division.

In his final match of the tournament, Mirelez took on Cade Lucio of Bakersfield. It was a matchup of the sixth- (Mirelez) and 11th- (Lucio) ranked wrestlers in the state, and it was Lucio who got the best of this meeting with a 10-5 decision victory over Mirelez, ending his tournament run.

This was the third time making the trip to the CIF State Finals for Mirelez.
