Things at your Press Banner are changing once again but it’s important to let the communities we serve understand how we view the future.

Barry Holtzclaw was an amazing advocate for both the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley. He joined the Press Banner as editor in April 2016 and had an immediate, positive impact on the way we do things. Though he has taken a new position he will be greatly missed by this newspaper.

Barry shared the commitment that everyone at this newspaper has to being of service to the people in our communities — whether he was covering controversial issues or the annual Scotts Valley Art, Wine and Beer Festival, he did so with great concern for readers to have the facts.

We remain committed to the things that make us a community — the things that bring us together and make us unique in Santa Cruz county and in the state. We are all in this together and the Press Banner is renewing its dedication to serving the people of Scotts Valley and the SLV. And when we select a new editor for the newspaper, it will be because that individual shares our conviction.

Though things may change behind the scenes here at the Press Banner, one thing never will — we will continue the legacy we have built since 1960 to serve the people of Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley.
