Tracy police said goodbye to one of the department’s police dogs during a memorial service Friday morning in front of Tracy Police Department headquarters.

K-9 Marko was honored with one last ride to the police department as his ashes were escorted into town by Tracy motor officers and K-9 officers from neighboring police departments.

Tracy Police Department announced that Marko had to be put down May 26 due to an untreatable medical condition. Marko had served with the department since November 2012 and was partnered with Officer Cody Dellabitta during his time with the police force.

Speakers included retired Tracy Officer Mike Reyna. Reyna had served as a K-9 officer and talked about Marko’s work with the police force and the impact he made.

Interim Chief Alex Neicu presented Marko’s ashes to Dellabitta and his family at the conclusion of the memorial.
