Last week’s Remember When mystery photo shows Darrold Schwartz, a longtime Tracy firefighter, cutting his retirement cake at a retirement celebration in January 1990 at the main fire station. He joined the fire department in 1960 and from 1974 to 1978 served as assistant chief. Proposition 13 budget cuts eliminated that position, and Schwartz retired as a captain.

Today’s mystery photo, below, shows activity on a downtown Tracy sidewalk in August 1965. What was going on? Who was seated on the right, and who were the two men standing in the center of the photo?
