Mariana Medrano, who just completed her sophomore year at West High, has joined Student Athlete World this week on a basketball tour in Europe.

From Tuesday through next Wednesday, she will be part of the United States under-19 women’s team competing at the United World Games in Klagenfurt, Austria. Student Athlete World’s team is competing in an eight-team tournament, which includes other USA teams and teams from Germany and Hungary, starting with round-robin play Friday and continuing with a championship bracket Saturday and Sunday.

The schedule also gives players an opportunity for sightseeing in Klagenfurt in southern Austria, and in Italy and Germany.

Medrano grew up playing basketball for Tracy Youth Hoops, the Tracy Boys & Girls Club and Monte Vista Middle School before she attended West High. This past season, she was the Wolf Pack junior varsity team’s leading outside shooter.
