Boy Scout Troop 81 held their Court of Honor by the river on Thursday, August 17. Many merit badges and rank advancements were given out during the ceremony. Javan Williams was the master of Ceremonies and Trevor Pedron assisted by handing out the awards. The Color Guard did the opening Flag Ceremony and the Invocation was done by Devin Pedron.Trevor Pedron awarded the following Scouts with their rank advancements; some Scouts received more than one rank advancement.

Montana Barron and Julian Ruiz earned their Tenderfoot Rank.

Montana Barron and Nicolas Varela earned their Second Class Rank.

Nicolas Varela and Javan Williams earned their First Class Rank.

Scoutmaster Kelly Pedron awarded the following scouts with their rank advancements:

Earning their Star Rank were Esteban Bearrup and Joseph Lundquist.

Hunter Austin, Joseph Gutierrez and Zackery Weeks earned the Life Scout distinction.

New Troop Officers were recognized and the officers new to their position received patches: Senior Patrol Leader Trevor Pedron, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Javan Williams, Quartermaster Zackery Weeks, Assistant Quartermaster Julian Ruiz, Scribrarian Hunter Austin, Webstorian Joseph Gutierrez and Chaplain Aide Devin Pedron.

More than 90 Merit Badges were given out by Javan and Trevor. The scouts earned many of the merit badges by attending Camp John Mensinger and Wente Scout Reservation this summer. Some of the merit badges earned were Fingerprinting, Kayaking, Space Exploration, Rifle Shooting, Camping and Wilderness Survival. Camp patches were also given out along with Spring Camporee Patches.

The ceremony ended with some brief announcements, including how the Boy Scouts could earn the August 21, 2017 Solar Eclipse Patch and the upcoming Popcorn Site Sales at Save Mart Labor Day weekend. The Honor Guard did the Closing Flag Ceremony.
