Boy Scouts from Troop 81 / Phoenix patrol kicked off this year’s Wreaths Across America fundraiser on Wednesday outside of Tri Counties Bank. The scouts are picking up where they left off last year, when they were Cub Scout in Den 5: They are once again raising funds to add additional wreaths for our National Cemetery in Santa Nella.

Each year, wreaths are placed on the graves of veterans at Christmas time through a national organization called Wreaths Across America. Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 1,400 locations across the United States.

This year’s National Wreaths Across America Day will be December 15, 2018. Unfortunately, there are not enough wreaths for all the Veterans buried there.  Last year, the boys set out to create awareness that we have a national cemetery so close, where many of our friends and family may be buried; and to inform the public that they need our help in order for all veterans buried there to be honored during the holidays.

Last year, the Cub Scouts were able to add an additional 502 wreaths to San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella. This year they would like to do the same, with the public’s help.

Wreaths are $15.00, and for every two wreaths purchased the organization will donate an additional wreath to the cemetery.  The public is encouraged to visit https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org to learn more about Wreaths Across America

If you would like to make a donation or have the Boy Scouts/ Phoenix Patrol place a wreath specifically on a grave on National Wreath Across America Day in December, you can contact them by email at:  Phoenixpatrol.bsa@yahoo.com

Or go directly to their webpage http:wreathsacrossamerica.org/CA0393   to ensure the donation goes to our National Cemetery.
