Tree-lighting ceremony

Residents gather during last year’s tree-lighting ceremony Dec. 6, 2014.

Soroptimist International of Patterson is reaching out to the community with three events planned in the coming weeks and entries are being taken now.

  • Christmas Trees in the Park, entry deadline Nov. 18: Once again decorated Christmas trees will fill South Park in historic downtown Patterson. The tree-lighting ceremony will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. downtown Saturday, Dec. 5, and the trees will be displayed through the holidays. Each entry includes a 6-foot Douglas fir tree, and the entrant supplies the outdoor-quality lights and decorations. This year there will be a judging competition for the decorated trees. Entries are $25 each and checks should be made payable to “Soroptimist International of Patterson” and dropped off to Veronica Ferraro at U.S. Bank, 12 Plaza.
