Craig Iman Barker

October 30, 1932 to December 29, 2014

Boulder Creek resident Craig Barker, 82, passed away on Dec. 29, 2014 due to a heart condition.

He was a Wisconsin native and a graduate of Whittier College in Southern California. He taught elementary, junior high, and high school in the Southland before moving north in 1968.

In the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, he taught elementary grades and became principal of the adult-evening school, and at Quail Hollow Elementary School.

In 1973, he became principal of Boulder Creek Elementary School and, in 1991, opened Redwood Elementary School with the help of teachers and parents.

He retired in 1993, after 25 years in the district.

He's survived by Catherine, his wife of 60 years, and sons Kurt Barker and Karl Barker. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Myranda, Aubrey, Genevieve, and Gaige Barker.

In honor of his request, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boulder Creek Fire Department, or to Valley Churches United Missions.
