Three killed in crash

A solo car crash on Grant Line Road east of Macarthur Drive killed three people Saturday night.

A fourth person involved in the fatal accident Dec. 29 has died, succumbing to his burns and other injuries.

The Tracy Police Department confirmed Tuesday that 19-year-old Cavrin Fiaigoa of Tracy died Monday, nine days after the car he was riding in with five other young men crashed on Grant Line Road just east of MacArthur Drive.

Christian Cruz, 22; Arturo Ramirez Valencia, 21; and Alan Garcia, 21, all died in the crash. Investigators say Garcia was at the wheel of the white Dodge Charger when it went out of control just before 7 p.m. and careened down the westbound lanes of the road, felling two trees and a fire hydrant before catching fire. Firefighters from nearby Station 92 had to cut through the passenger-side doors to get some of the young men out of the burning car. The others either were ejected in the crash or were already outside the car when firefighters got there.

Police investigators are looking into whether high speed was responsible for the wreck. Sgt. Craig Kootstra said Tuesday that regardless of the findings, they would not be filing criminal charges in this case because the driver is among the dead.

Two other young men in the vehicle, including a 15-year-old, were not as seriously hurt and will not be identified by investigators.
