Tracy police have confirmed that a woman found dead in her apartment on the 100 block of West Carlton Way was the victim of homicide.
Sgt. Tim Bauer confirmed Monday that the manager of an apartment complex called police at 10:48 p.m. Saturday to report the death and that other tenants in the apartment complex said “she has been dead for days.”
Police also learned the name of a suspect, a man in his late 30s, according to the Tracy Police Department dispatch log. The suspect and victim apparently knew each other. As of early Monday afternoon, police had not made any arrests.
Bauer said that police were not releasing any further information on the victim or the suspect, nor any details on the time or manner of the woman’s death, pending the results of an autopsy report. He added that nobody else appeared to be involved.
The 100 block of West Carlton Way is between Parker Avenue and Holly Drive, just west of the Tracy Learning Center campus.
The latest homicide in Tracy was June 14, 2018, when 15-year-old Emilio Gerardo Enriquez Almanza was shot and killed on the railroad tracks along Sixth Street just west of Tracy Boulevard. Four people were arrested for that crime, including three teenagers. An adult suspect, Diaundre Lee Campbell, 24, remains in San Joaquin County Jail with no bail and facing a charge of murder. A preliminary hearing for that case is scheduled July 8 in Stockton.
