A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday for Fortunata Natalia Velasquez, 84, a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, who died Jan. 14 in Stockton with her family beside her.
Mrs. Velasquez was born in El Paso Real, Michoacan, Mexico, and took pride in being a homemaker for 54 years. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s and a member of La Guadalupe Lupana of Tracy.
Survivors include five children, Joe Velasquez, and his wife, Nenita, Mary Hernandez, Connie Velasquez, Olga Velasquez and Javier Velasquez, and his wife, Miranda, all of Stockton; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 54 years, Jose Velasquez, who died in 2002; a daughter, Rebecca Velasquez; and three brothers, Antonio Hernandez, Clemente Hernandez and El Pajaro Hernandez.
Wednesday’s Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road. Visitation will be observed from noon to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., with a vigil service to begin at 7:30 p.m.
