There’s more to the Tracy Camera Club’s November image of the month than meets the eye.

Photographer Aaron Peer described the process of capturing and compositing the image, which he titled “Paper Wasp Macro.”

“This image was as much a technical exercise as an artistic one,” he wrote. “I used an old wide-angle lens mounted backwards on the camera to get the high magnification. That resulted in such a short depth of field that I had to stack many images together at different focus points. The final composite image shows the whole head of the wasp in sharp focus.”

The club, which meets monthly at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, takes a break at the end of each year. Regular meetings will resume in February. For information: Geoff Faulkner,
