Multicolored lights covered cars, marching bands and floats that led the way for Santa and Mrs. Claus as the holiday season got underway with the annual Hometown Holiday Light Parade and Tree Lighting on Saturday.

Twenty-eight groups paraded from 10th and A streets to Central Avenue and south to the Downtown Plaza, accompanied by holiday lights. Judges chose winning entries in four categories.

 Decorated vehicle: Railtown Off-Road Club, first place; Tracy Fire Truck 91, second place; Tracy Toyota, third place

 Walking unit: Tracy High School Marching Band & Color Guard, first place; Tracy Learning Center Marching Falcons, second place; The Company Fine Arts Academy, third place

 Animal unit: Banta 4-Horse Project, first place; Jefferson 4-H Santa’s Sled, second place; Santa’s Helpers (Debby Weberski), third place

 Float or trailer: Aspire Hometown Realty, first place; American Heritage Girls troop 5160, second place; Tracy Sunrise Rotary, third place

After the parade, members of the City Council and city staff joined Dino Margaros, president of the Tracy City Center Association, to light the city tree in the Downtown Plaza. Santa and Mrs. Claus visited with children at the Santa Hut for about an hour.
