July 11 was the first meeting of Tracy Sunrise Rotary with Shannon Reinard as club president.
She takes over after Kerry Johnson’s year as president and comes into the office with former District 5220 governor and past club president Ellen Hancock for support.
Reinard has been with the club since September 2009. She had been the Tracy branch operations administrator with Central Valley Community Bank until this month, retiring when the bank closed its Tracy branch. She now plans to focus on her role as Tracy Sunrise Rotary president.
Reinard chose Rotary as a way to engage in community service and sees her role as president as an extension of that service.
“I felt like it’s not just about serving the community. It’s also about serving the club,” she said. “In that respect, you have to do your part, and that includes serving on committees, serving as a director or officer or eventually as president. It’s actually a very big honor and I appreciate it.”
One of her goals for the year is helping the club grow and add new members.
“I’m really encouraged about that,” she said. “We have so much talent here. I feel like I can still learn more about the members of the club and what their interests are and what they’d like to see happen with the club. It’s important to get everyone’s input.”
