College-bound African-American high school seniors in Tracy and Mountain House can apply for the Wayne Nelson Academic Scholarship, an annual award given by the Tracy African American Association.

The association has given more than $128,000 to date to local students. Most recently, nine scholarships were awarded in 2018 and seven in 2017.

Applications are available online at and must be returned with all supporting documentation no later than March 23. Application packages can be emailed to or mailed to Olinga Alexander / Edu. Committee, P.O. Box 62, Tracy, CA 95376.
