Yolande Barial Knight, the 2018 recipient of the Tracy African American Association’s MLK Image Award, will lead the organization as president for the coming year.

She and other officers took the oath of office from Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Young at a ceremony Saturday at Brookside Senior Living, 355 W. Grant Line Road.

Gwendolyn S. White is vice president, Gary C. Cooper is treasurer, Olinga Yarber-Alexander is education chair, Benjamin Henderson is by-laws chair, Mishelle Neverson is activities chair and Lynette Jones is newsletter committee chair.

Outgoing officers and committee leaders were recognized and thanked. Stephanie Burrell-Hammer was mistress of ceremonies for the second year in a row.

Members and guests also sat down to a brunch catered by TAAA member Margie Forehand, a professional caterer.

The association’s mission is “to unite people of all ages and backgrounds through sponsorships and contributions to educational, cultural and social programs that foster awareness, diversity, and a cooperative environment that unite the Tracy community.” All who share this mission are welcome to join.
