Petty Officer 3rd Class Aaron Johnson, a 2016 West High graduate, will help train the best Naval aviators on the planet.
Johnson was assigned to Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center at Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada — known as TopGun — as an intelligence specialist. He will collect data from more than 5,000 training sorties per year, analyze them and report to Navy leadership to help train some of the best pilots in the world.
“I’m the first in my family to serve in the military,” Johnson wrote in a news release Friday. “I’m proud of the work that I’m doing on daily basis. It’s important work with real-world ramifications. That motivates me to do my best always."
The post is highly coveted and very competitive.
“My parents taught me the important value of discipline,” Johnson added. “Serving in the Navy means holding myself to a higher standard and doing so with confidence, respect for myself and respect for others.”
