Silver anniversary

James and Nancy Young celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a party for close family and friends March 25 at Tracy Community Center.

The Rev. James Young and Councilwoman Nancy Young celebrated the 25th anniversary of their marriage with close family and friends at an evening party hosted by Leon Thomas on March 25 at Tracy Community Center.

They were married March 28, 1992, in Oakland, and have made their home in Tracy for 11 years.

The Youngs are actively involved in the Tracy community as co-pastors of His Image Ministries and members of the board of Tracy African American Association. Nancy Young also serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tracy and Kiwanis of Tracy, and she advises the Mountain House High School Key Club. She founded Living on Purpose Mentorship and leads the Student Discovery Program at Kimball High School, among other community projects. She was elected to the City Council in 2012 and 2016.

James and Nancy Young have four children together: Benjamin, who lives in Tracy with his wife, Shante; Michael, a student at Morehouse College in Atlanta; Lydia, who attends Howard University in Washington; and Nathaniel, a junior at West High School. James Young also brought four children to their union: Charmayne, James Jr., Shaun and Shannon, of California and Michigan. They have seven grandchildren.
