BOISE, Idaho - The College of Idaho men’s skiing team secured a spot at the 2023 United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) Nationals with their performance at the USCSA Western Regionals at Bogus Basin last weekend.
On Friday, Feb. 24, the Giant Slalom top finisher on the squad was Tracy’s Carson Parco who finished with a two run total time of 1:43.91, good for 10th place overall out of 127 competitors.
Will Paquette was the second finisher on the men's team, finishing with a combined time of 1:47.11. Rounding out the top three Yote skiers was Cade McIntyre, finishing with a time of 1:51.75.
During Saturday’s Slalom race, Parco led the Yotes with an eighth-place finish and a combined time of 1:29.52. Will Paquette was 22nd with a combined time of 1:32.44 and Cade McIntyre took 34th with a combined time of 1:43.16.
Rocky Mountain College had a combined time of 4:19.29, the University of Colorado was second in 4:33.67 and the Yotes were third in 4:45.12 out of 17 teams.
The team lost a consistently top performing male skier due to injury less than a week before Regionals. The top three finish secures the Yotes a spot at the upcoming USCSA Nationals to be held March 6 through the 11th in Mammoth, Calif.
